Medical Summary to be continued– Pending chem results Plan: Telazol 0.8 ml im r lat thigh, masked with iso then intubated and maintained on iso 20 gauge r ceph ivc -50 ml/hr, removed at the end of anesth Ampicillin 20 mg/ml 2 ml iv con’t sq bid x 1 day then reassess for oral meds Rimadyl 55 pound dose (1.3cc) im Surgical prep of wound sites. Wounds were flushed with lrs. Wound the right shoulder explored to identify site of active hemorrhage in the dorsal aspect of the muscle. 3-0 pds used to tie off vessels. The margins wounds on the right were debrided and extended to visualize the extent of the trauma in the immediate area and incisions for distal aspects of drains to exit other than sites of the wounds. Drains placed at all 3 sites because of extensive tracts dorsal/proximal/rostral to the wounds. 2-0 pds with long sutures were used to tack drains in place. 3-0 pds in a horizontal mattress pattern was used to oppose muscle in right shoulder wound and a simple continuous pattern for subq and subcuticular closure. The incised sites on the left were closed with 3-0 pds in a simple continuous pattern and skin glue applied topically. E collar was not placed due to the location of the drains.
