Medical Behavior Evaluation GREEN
Medical Summary 04/11/17 DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 3 yrs Microchip scan neg. History : Stray dog found last night, appeared to have injuries. Subjective: Observed Behavior – Calm, gentle, friendly. Allows all handling. Objective: BARH. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2 s. HR=140, RR=24. BCS=5/9. ORAL: Mild calculus. EENT: OD – scleral hemorrhage. Mild pink tinged nasal discharge, R>L. No frank hemorrhage from nose. AU- Blood on pinnae and in ear canals. H/L: Lungs clear, no dyspnea. No murmurs/arrhythmias. ABD: Soft, non-painful, no masses/organomegaly palpable. UG: Intact male, both testicles palpable. MS: Amb x 4, no lameness. No palpable limb fractures. INTEG: Multiple puncture wounds over right side of face, both ears. Mod. amount of dried blood over head and face, front limbs. Mild soft swelling dorsal to OD. Small mats over limbs, unkempt haircoat. A: Multiple wounds, suspicious for bite wounds. Will need further exploration and treatment under sedation. P: Hydromorphone 2 mg/ml 0.3 ml SQ administered. Sedated with Dexdomitor 0.4 ml IM. Convenia 80 mg/ml 0.58 ml SQ administered. Rimadyl 50 mg/ml 0.5 ml SQ administered. Shaved affected areas of ears, head, neck, cranial right shoulder. Cleaned all puncture wounds with dilute chlorhexidene solution. Majority of wounds are on the right side: base of right ear, ventral to OD, cranial right shoulder, dorsal R cervical area, R lat face and near commissure of lips, R dorsal head. Has moderate soft tissue swelling right ventral cervical area. No bruising identified but mild to mod. erythema over affected regions. These wounds are consistent with bite wounds from another animal. While recovering from sedation, shaved mats on ventrum and distal limbs. No antisedan administered – recovered well from sedation. Continue Rimadyl 25 mg PO q 24 hours x 7 days (start tomorrow). Hydromorphone 0.3 ml SQ BID x 2 days. Start Baytril 22.7 mg 1.25 tabs PO q 24 hours x 10 days. Good prognosis. Temporary waiver from neuter surgery due to injuries.
