12/16/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Before calling it a night, I went to say good bye to Honeydew, the elderly Collie. She was throning like a queen in the middle of her plush blanket , so serene looking, at peace, content and safe in her kennel. There was a smile in her frosted face and warmth as well as life in her cloudy eyes. She is so beautiful. Honeydew was pretty excited during our walk, running rather than strolling, but not forgetting to attend to business. She was wondering what I wanted from her when I tethered her for the photo shoot. The years have turned the pages of her life but she still looks so charming. Free in a pen, she explored a little, then came to sit very close to me, took daintily soft treats, and looked at me as if asking, “Will I belong, love and be loved just like I did before?” I could only hold her head in my hands, pet her and say: we can only hope. Honeydew is at the Manhattan Care Center. Please, make her wish come true.
