06/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Zor came into the shelter as a stray; there is minimal information for his behavior in a home. Upon intake it was reported Zor was quiet and well behaved. The client, who relinquished Zor stated he was found in Richmond Virginia. during her two week trip. When no one came forward to claim Zor; he was bought back to New York with her, where he lived for two weeks. Zor was introduced to her two children,he did not engage in play neither with the children or adults in the house, but was respectful, tolerant. The client also mentioned Zor was not introduced to any other pets. Zor was not bothered by his food bowl being touched while he was eating, but would growl when he had a bone. During SAFER Zor came into the assessment room calm and mellow. Zor was neutral towards the assessor. He allowed handling items to be conducted with some tense body language. Zor was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. On the other hand Zor shows potential for possessive behavior over bones. Due to this behavior concern the department feels Zor can be suitable for an adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body a bit tense. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw, mouth closed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw mouths open. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-Dog-When off leash at the Care Center, Zor greets the helper dog with a soft body and lowered head. He enters the pen highly anxious, pacing around and not really paying any further attention to the other dog.
