12/09/16 11:36 Upon intake Zeus was wagging his tail and whining inside the dog crate. He greeted cousnelor at the front of the carrier. Cousnelor was able to place a leash over his head and he walked out the carrier. He had a tense body when scanned and moved away from the scanner. Cousnelor was able to collar and photograph, Zeus allowed all handling.

KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Intact, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 12/20/16 Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Summary: Zeus was friendly and playful towards the assessor. PLAYGROUP: Zeus was surrendered to the Care Center for biting a puppy. As per policy, as well as his history towards other dogs, a muzzle was placed on Zeus before he was allowed to greet another dog. When greeting a novel female dog, Zeus hard stares at the female and begins to chatter. Once he is allowed into the pen, he leaps and growls on top of the female dog. The session is ended. When greeting a novel female dog, Zeus hard stares at the female and begins to chatter. Once he is allowed into the pen, he leaps and growls on top of the female dog. The session is ended. The Behavior Department recommends that due to Zeus’s history, coupled with the behavior towards other dogs seen in the shelter, Zeus should not be placed in a home with resident dogs.
