11/05/16 16:10 BASIC INFORMATION: Zeus is a black brindle/white Staffordshire terrier. Zeus was given to owner as a gift & has no known health issues. Zeus was surrendered to ACC due to owner moving to a residence that does not allow pets. SOCIALIZATION: Zeus is friendly around strangers and loves getting pet. Zeus has been exposed around small children ages 8.17 & 18; Zeus gets along with children & adults. Zeus gets along with other dogs & plays gently. Zeus has previously been exposed to a cat & was respectful and gentle towards the cat . Zeus has not bitten another animal or person within the past 10 days. BEHAVIOR: Zeus does not show signs of aggression when owner touches food bowl while he is eating, Owner is able to take bone, toy or any object from his mouth with no problem. Zeus allows grooming and bathing. When someone unfamiliar approaches the home, he is friendly. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Zeus has a high activity level. Owners favorite things of Zeus is, he is extremely affectionate & is always there to greet the owner. He loves to play & would do best in a family home or a single person home.. Zeus is familiar with the command sit.. For exercise, he loves to go out for brisk walks and go running. He has been kept mostly indoors & enjoys eating dry food. Zeus will go potty on grass or cement. BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Upon intake, Zeus displayed a loose body & an open mouth. Zeus loved to receive attention from the counselor. Zeus allowed all handling & scanned positive.

Other notes: SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/8/16 Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is a bit fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is between his legs, body a bit tense with his mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Zeus was a bit fearful with parts of the handling, but he shows good coping skills and no major concerns were seen during this assessment. Zeus is nervous of high energy play but attempts to engage in gentler play. He is tolerant of the high energy play styles and is able to engage in gentler play with dogs that match his play style. The Behavior Department recommends that Zeus be placed in a home with dogs that match his gentle play style. 11/7: Zeus approaches the helper dog with a low, wiggly body and exchanges a quick greet but scurries away to relieve himself. He then re-approaches and solicits and engages in gently running chase play. 11/8-11/19: In a group of playful male and female dogs, Zeus is nervous of high energy play but attempts to engage in gentler play. He is tolerant of the high energy play styles and is able to engage in gentler play with dogs that match his play style. Zues is used as a greeter.
