10/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Zeus previously lived with adults and children ages 12 and older. The owner stated Zeus is friendly towards strangers, adults and children. The owner mentioned Zeus has lived with a large dog and a cat and was relaxed and playful around each other. The owner describes Zeus as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident and excitable. It was reported by the owner Zeus is house trained, has a medium activity level and well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Zeus began to growl at the staff member, no handling was conducted due to his behavior. During SAFER Zeus came into the assessment room tense and fearful, he was not interested with the assessor. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as Zeus bared his teeth and growled at the assessor when attempting to approach him to pet him. He displayed no interest in the toy resource item during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Zeus mostly keeps to himself as he wanders in a group of male and female dogs. He will offer correction to dogs that attempt to mount him.
