Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Unknown Intact, Owner Surrender Bite history: Zeppelin was brought into our care centers due to a bite incident that occurred to which he caused damage to someone’s right hand, breaking skin. No other details provided. SAFER ASSESSMENT: Summary: Zeppelin has remained fearful throughout his stay at our care centers and tolerates minimal forms of handling. Due to his shelter observations in conjunction with known history, the behavior department believes Zeppelin is not an appropriate candidate for a SAFER assessment at this time. PLAYGROUP: Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 11/07/16 During his initial medical examination, Zeppelin tolerated all handling though appeared tense. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) _X_Place with a New Hope partner (Zeppelin would benefit best from placement with a New Hope rescue group who can further assess this behavior in a stable environment.) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Zeppelin has been observed to display fearful behavior during his stay at our care centers; at times will avoid interaction and shy away from direct-touch. Zeppelin easily startles and is made uncomfortable by loud noises and sudden movement and will display proper warning signals as well as increase distance from anything that may present a threat. We cannot be certain if any other behavior is suppressed as a result of his environment. A period of decompression is advised before introduction or exposure to new and unfamiliar situations. Force-free, reward based training is advised.)
