A volunteer writes;
I spotted and liked Zelda right away as I was walking though the adoption quarters. She looked like an opinionated gal who has seen it all and clearly, did not think she belonged in a kennel, even quite large. We are going out, Ms Zelda, we are going out… Zelda pulls a lot on the leash and is sure to do her business in the street. Few dogs are met causing no ill reaction on her part. She is only too happy to get the attention of a staff and immediately offers a standing hug. The yard is the best place to be for both of us. She seems to like a little Yorkie smooching with another volunteer in an adjacent pen. She absolutely loves treats and toys(more than a ball) and will jump and hop excitedly on her hinds to get what she wants…yesterday, today and tomorrow. Of course, her eyes then shine and her mouth opens into a large smile. Zelda is the “boss” !! In playgroup with her peers, she is fine with well mannered dogs who respect her wishes but will voice her dislike when things do not go her way(like a gentle but pushy male making some “advances”). Zelda seems to have known a number of litters and probably would prefer to be now a spayed beloved pet. Zelda is a lady with character, vibrant with warm blood running though her veins, a great appetite for life and a very soft spot in her heart for us , humans. If you are looking for that special type of gal..well , Zelda is here at the Manhattan Care Center, to make your wish come through. Come and meet her soon.
