07/31/16 14:45 Zelda is an all-black American Staffordshire with on her chest. She appears to be 7 months old. She was found as a stray. Finder stated that Zelda was friend and playful. She jumped up to greet the strangers. During intake Zelda allowed being collard, scanned and photographed. She was friendly and playful. She allowed being petted and gently rubbed on her back. On the leash she followed counselor around nicely.

Zelda came into the shelter as a stray on 7/31/16, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. Behavior during Intake: Zelda was friendly and playful, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Zelda came into the assessment room playful ane friendly she had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor; she allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Zelda was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment. Zelda was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Zelda appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is wagging with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Squeeze 1/2:1 Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: Dog showed minimal interest in the toy item smells, then turns away. Dog-Dog:Zelda greets new dogs with soft body language. She displays bouncy body language as she solicits play. She continually greets the other dogs, ignoring their body language that they are uncomfortable.

Zelda was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with a female dog at the Care Center, Zelda initially kept to herself. With further playgroup sessions, Zelda engages in continually high energy play with male and female dogs. She displays slight assertive posturing, mounting a female dog, but is able to continue to play when solicited. 8/2: Zelda is tolerant of the other dog’s greeting but mostly keeps to herself as she explores the pen. 8/3: Zelda greets new dogs with soft body language. She displays bouncy body language as she solicits play. She continually greets the other dogs, ignoring their body language that they are uncomfortable. 8/4: Zelda engages in high energy play with a female dog. She displays slight assertive posturing, mounting the female dog, but is able to continue to play when solicited. 8/5-8/9: Zelda engaged in gentle play with playful male and female dogs.
