04/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Zelda came to us as a stray so we do not have any behavior information other than what has been observed while at the shelter. Zelda had very nervous and fearful body language when entering the behavior room. She appeared to be proximity sensitive constantly trying to get as far from the assessor as possible. Zelda would head flip at times when the assessor would touch her very softly on her back. Due to this behavior the handling portion of the assessment was not conducted. The assessor was able to give Zelda some treats to try and calm her anxiety. When given the treats Zelda knew the commands “give paw” and “sit”. Eventually, after some time Zelda allowed some touch from the assessor on the head, but would not allow to be collared and was still highly uncomfortable. She displayed no interest toy, and had relaxed body language when on an on-leash dog interaction with another dog. Due to Zelda’s high anxiety and behavior in the shelter we recommend Zelda go to a rescue before placement into a stable environment. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip long or neutral.
