No csvd; Observed Behavior – Very nervous, but able to place muzzle and do rest of exam without issue; Objective ; P = wnl; R = wnl; BCS 5/9; EENT: Mild serous ocular discharge and periocular erythema OU, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted; Oral Exam: not performed due to temperament; PLN: No enlargements noted; H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic; ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated; U/G: intact male with two descended testicles, no discharge; MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat; CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities; Rectal: normal externally; Assessment; 1) Conjunctivitis, mild- suspect allergies vs KCS vs less likely infectious; Prognosis: good; Plan:  TAB ointment OU BID x 7 days, then recheck; SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to age

Zane has the wildest eyes that draw you into his zany world! He also has this crazy ears that bend in the strangest dimensions! He is inquisitive, always nose to the ground absorbing his environment but don’t get me wrong, if you want his attention he will be sure to give it to you! He is all in! Basic Information:  Zane is a 9 year old male that has no previous or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Zane was surrendered to BACC due to owner passing away.

Previously lived with:  1 Adult
How is this dog around strangers?  Around strangers, Zane will bark at once. Once he is comfortable, he is friendly
How is this dog around children?  Zane has been around children of all ages and was relaxed and respectful around the children
How is this dog around other dogs?  Owner did not have any dogs in the home but when taking Zane for a walk, whenever he sees other dogs he will hard bark and growl
How is this dog around cats?  Owner did not have any dogs in the home but when taking Zane for a walk, whenever he sees other dogs he will hard bark and growl
Resource guarding:  Zane is not bothered when someone takes away his food, treats or toys
Bite history:  Zane does not have a bite history
Housetrained:  Yes
Energy level/descriptors:  Very High

Other Notes:  Zane is not bothered by being held/restrained, pushed off furniture, being disturbed while sleeping, being given a bath, having his coat brushed or having his nails trimmed. When unfamiliar people would approach the home, Zane would bark.

For a New Family to Know;  Zane is described as friendly, affectionate and playful. When in a new surrounding that he does not know, he is anxious and will start to pant, bark and circle around. Zane has a very high activity level and likes to play with squeaky toys. When in the home, he liked to follow whoever was near him around from room to room. Zane was fed dry food only brand not provided. He was kept mostly indoors and is house trained. When left alone in the home, Zane was well behaved. He has never been crate trained so behavior is unknown. Zane knows the cue sit and come. For exercise, he was taken on brisk walks on the leash. When on leash, Zane tends to pull very hard. Owner’s son was able to walk him off leash and stated that he would wander around at first but then come back when his name was called.

Behavior Notes:
Behavior during intake: Zane has a stiff body and was hard barking during intake. No handling was done during intake.

Date of assessment:  26-Jun-2018
Look:  2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity:  1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag:  1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft.
Paw squeeze 1:  1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Paw squeeze 2:  1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Toy:  1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. Dog does not place his/her body between you and the toy.
Summary:  Though he tolerated handling without issue. Zane was focused on the scents around the SAFER room. He was fairly distracted throughout his assessment though displayed no behavior concerns. Zane followed during tag but was still distracted.
Summary (1):  Owner did not have any dogs in the home but reported that Zane is reactive when on leash, hard barking and growling when he sees other dogs on the street.
6/25: When off leash at the Care Center, Zane rushes the gate, lunging, hard barking, and snapping towards the novel female dog on the other side. He is not introduced.
