Summary: Woodstock was social with the assessor throughout is assessment, displaying no behavioral concerns. PLAYGROUP: Woodstock was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Woodstock displays soft and social body language when interacting with female dogs. He is utilized as a greeter dog and greets novel female dogs appropriately. With another intact male, Woodstock status seeks with him, placing his chin on his back and attempting to mount. The Behavior Department believes that Woodstock would be most comfortable in a home with a resident female dog, however a dog-dog interaction can be conducted with a potential adopter’s male dog to assess compatibility. IN SHELTER BEHAVIOR: When out in playgroup, Woodstock became anxious and began jumping on the handlers. When he was being ignored, Woodstock became mouthy, nipping the handler’s hand on the knuckle. He did not break skin but exhibited poor bite inhibition and left a red mark through the handler’s cloth glove. When the handler removed the cloth glove from her hand, Woodstock immediately grabbed it. As the handlers were spraying him with water and moving toward him in an attempt to drop the glove, Woodstock ran away and quickly swallowed it. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 11/21/16 During his initial medical examination, Woodstock readily allowed all handling; seeking affection from all handlers. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (Suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience) _x_Basic manners/Poor impulse control _x_Mouthiness/Poor bite inhibition
