A volunteer writes: Sugar and spice and everything nice – that’s what little girls are made of…..and puppies…….Snugglicious and adorable, Winter is dressed in a soft tan coat, her tail wags, and her big brown eyes take in this new place of strange sounds and movement. Happiest on my lap giving kisses, she briefly picks up a toy but quickly decides that she’d rather be cuddling. Winter takes treats gently, needs to figure out what a leash is all about and simply wants to be with her person. Winter is a blank canvas ready to be colored with all there is to learn about life as a cherished pet. She’s looking for a person or family that will help her grow into a confident, loving, playful adult dog. She’s got everything it takes to make it happen and just needs you to complete her. Ask to meet her today.
BEHAVIOR:
Winter walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Winter had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. She took the toy away but had soft body language.
Winter did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy.
Playgroup Notes:
When off leash with other dogs, Winter is intially fearful. She walks low to the ground. Winter begins to open up and engage in soft play. She offers correction for mounting.
