03/11/17 11:09 Upon intake Willow had a tense body, she moved away from cousnelor when approached. Counselor proceeded slowly and after a few minutes she walked up to cousnelor and sniffed cousnelors leg. She was receptive to handling and cousnelor was able to collar, scan (negative) and photograph.

She allowed all handling. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 3/15/17 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity:1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag:1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog might jump on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1& 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Summary: Willow was friendly and social towards the assessor, she displayed no concern. The Behavior Department recommends that Willow be placed in a home with dogs that match her gentle play style. 3/12: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Willow is initially nervous when greeting a novel male dog. As the session continues, Willow relaxes and solicits and engages in gentle play. 3/13: Willow engages in and solicits gentle play. When she play bows she displays conflicting language by also lip curling. She is respectful of a dog that does not engage in play and explores the pen. 3/15: In a group of males Willow explored her surroundings while keeping to herself. She tolerated play solicitations from another dog. 3/16: Willow solicits play in a group of male and female dogs. She is tolerant if persistent solicitations. 3/17: Today Willow was utilized as a greeter. She engages in chase-play and is tolerant high energy body slams and muzzle licks but will separate herself when it exceeds her comfort level.
