08/04/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I knew I had to meet Willigers when I saw him coming to the care center, brought in by good samaritans. He looked so tired and I thought he was blind. How wrong I was. Willigers might have a grey muzzle, but he is as spunky as a young Jack Russell. Be careful opening his kennel as he will want to fly like Batman. He is a great arm dog who snuggles tightly against me. I love to squeeze this little guy and scratch him on the head. Willigers is an excellent walker. He seems housetrained and slightly marks his territory. He is interested in other dogs in a civil way, even those who are much bigger than him. He sits for treats and hops on the bench for some bonding. His tiny stump of a tail wags non stop. Willigers is really cute, well dressed in a silky coat, and if his face was not whitish, I would think that I am dealing with a youngster ready to take on the world. Willigers is at the Manhattan Care Center. Come, ask to meet him and take home a really nice new friend.
08/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Willingers came to us as a stray so we have no history of him in a home. Upon intake, he had a wagging tail and relaxed body, and allowed handling. On his relief walk, Willingers did not pull on leash. He was social upon entering the room. During look, Willingers held the assessor’s gaze with soft eyes and body. During sensitivity, he accepted the touch with a soft body. For tag, he became a bit playful and followed at the end of the leash. For squeeze he did not pull back his paw. He showed no interest in the toy. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 1, Follows at end of leash, body soft, a bit playful. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog to Dog: Attempts to mount female dogs.
