A volunteer writes:

Mrs Wildfire is sleeping tight in her kennel. A light  tap on her shoulder promptly wakes her up. She accepts my leash and comes to her door. i pet her. She is quite clean but her coat is as thick the one of a sheep after a long winter…I can not feel her bones. She is one matted little white cloud who can barely walk…Her infected cherry eye impedes  her vision and  does not help the situation. Mrs Wildfire is in dear need of a good grooming….i carry her to the yard where she immediately relieves herself. She likes to be held and caressed and later in the day, she held well in a playgroup with other little dogs. Mrs Wildfire was found as a stray…at 12 years of age…..This sweet old gal meds your help, a caring home to call her own and an owner to love….Come and meet her at the Manhattan Care Center
