07/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Whopper is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER at this time. At intake it was reported Whopper was extremely fearful. During her walk to the assessment room Whopper would stop bite the rope and also snapped at the assessor .Whopper did not allow any touch or handling; During Initial exam Whopper was nervous, and did not tolerate restraint. In the kennel Whopper can be seen fearful in the back of the kennel body flat, and trembling with her head turned towards the wall. During Whoppers walk to the assessment room she began to defecate on the floor and snapped at the assessor. In the assessment room Whopper maintained the same fearful behavior. SAFER assessment will not be conducted due to safety and stress level concerns. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a New Hope Partner that can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Dog-Dog:When off leash at the Care Center, Whopper is nervous with a tucked body and avoids interacting at all with the greeter dog.
