04/06/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
4/4/16 Mighty is a 7 year old spayed Am Staff/American Bulldog mix. His owner got him from a family member when he was a young adult. She had to surrender him and Faith because an ill family member moved in with her. SOCIALIZATION Mighty lived with 4 children ages 0-10 and was relaxed, playful, and tolerant with them. He plays gently with people. He lived with an adult female dog (Faith). They were relaxed, playful, affectionate, and played somewhat rough with each other. They slept next to each other. Once, when separated, they stopped eating and drinking. Mighty growls when Faith approaches his food/treat/toy, and often steals her food, and Faith walks away and allows him to have the resource. When Mighty’s paw was injured, she would stay with him and lick his paw. Mighty hadn’t bit anyone before 4/3, when he bit Faith and a police officer during stressful altercations. BEHAVIOR Mighty doesn’t mind storms. He doesn’t mind when someone moves him off furniture, holds/restrains him, or wakes him up. He loves being brushed but is nervous during baths. When strangers came over, he was kept separate from them until he stopped barking (because this usually startled strangers). Once they sat down, he would approach them, sniff them, take treats from them, and be friendly with them (e.g. roll over for belly rubs). He barks at strangers who approach his owner outside. Mighty doesn’t mind when his human family takes his food/treat/toy, but he growls at Faith and continues eating when she tries to. He brings his family his empty bowl when he’s hungry/thirsty and repeatedly picks it up and drops it in front of them until they pick it up (which he allows) and feeds/waters him. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Mighty’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, mellow, and low energy. He follows them and lies down to rest at their feet. He chews bones. He lived inside and slept on a dog bed. He ate dry Pedigree food and people food including pancakes, bacon, and eggs for breakfast; salad; and herbal tea when it’s cold outside. He’s housetrained, doesn’t have accidents, and potties anywhere outside. He’s well-behaved while left alone inside. While alone in the yard with a 5′ chain-link fence, he sits and waits by the door. He sits and lies down when asked. He went for slow walks and pulled on his leash. He went to the yard to go potty and would come straight inside to be with his family afterwards. Mighty allowed handling.
