Basic Information:
Wesley is a 1 yr old male German Shepard/Pit Bull Terrier Mix that has no past or current medical issues that the previous owner is aware of. Previous owner received Wesley from a previous owner but can longer have him due to the fact that her work schedule is very demanding & does not have time for Wesley. In result, Wesley has separation anxiety & after being alone for a while he has a tendency of being destructive of household items.
Socialization:
According to the previous owner, around strangers, Wesley is friendly & outgoing. Around adults, Wesley is respectful & relaxed & plays in an exuberant manner. Wesley has never been exposed to children so behavior around them is unknown. Wesley has lived with 1 other large male dog & was respectful & playful & played in an exuberant manner. Wesley has interacted with smaller dogs & he is respectful & playful. Wesley has never been exposed to cats so behavior around them is unknown. He has never bitten a person or another animal.
Behavior:
Previous owners stated that Wesley has separation anxiety & when left alone for a long period of time he can be destructive of household items & personal belongings & he would bark consistently. Wesley isn’t bothered when any food, treat, or toy is taken from him or when he is pushed or pulled off furniture. Wesley isn’t bothered by having his coat brushed or having a bath. Previous owner never trimmer Wesley’s nails so his behavior to this grooming agent is unknown. Wesley isn’t bothered when an unfamiliar person approaches the home, previous owner, or a family member.
For a New Family to Know:
Wesley is described as friendly, affectionate, excitable, & playful with a high activity level. When in the home, Wesley is the type to follow you around seeking attention. Wesley likes all kinds of toys but his favorite are kongs filled with peanut butter & basketballs & he likes to play fetch. Wesley was kept indoors only & was fed Purina Dog Chow dry food & Beneful wet dog food. According to previous owner, Wesley is house-trained & would rarely have any accidents. Wesley usually goes to the bathroom on the grass. When left alone in the home, Wesley is destructive of household items & personal belongings. Wesley knows command sit. For exercise, he enjoyed slow & brisk walks with the previous owner. On the leash, Wesley can pull hard or slightly depending on how excited he is & was never let off the leash.

Look: 1. Dog leans forward and jumps up hard with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, ears back, tail wag.
Tag: 3. Dog escalates quickly at beginning of game, jumps and mouths assessor’s arm with moderate to hard pressure, body remained soft.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed
Squeeze 2: 2. Dog pulls back paw
Toy 1: 2. Dog keeps a firm hold, body not stiff
Summary: Wesley jumped up hard on assessor upon entering SAFER assessment area, he displays a low threshold for arousal as he escalated fairly quickly during the tag portion though recovered well. Wesley appears to lack impulse control and would benefit from daily mental/physical stimulation.
PLAYGROUP:
When off leash with other dogs, Wesley was polite, tolerant and very playful when greeted by a helper female. He engaged in rough play and offered multiple play bows.
10/17 update : Wesley continues to tbe very polite, tolerant and playful with a social female.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
During his initial medical examination, Welsey readily allowed all handling without issue.
