06/06/2016 WEB MEMO
06/06/16 14:20 A staff member writes: Don’t be fooled by her graying muzzle, it’s about the start of summertime, and Wandy’s yearbook nomination would be “Most likely to win a fetch championship”. This girl is a master catcher and chaser of tennis balls, and returns ready to exchange one ball for the next. Our food-motivated Wandy is ready to show off her “sit”, “stay”, and “paw” in exchange for some tasty treats. Good looks? Check. Fetch skills? Check. Super smart girl looking to start life outside the shelter? Check! That’s Wandy!
06/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Wandy walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. Wandy was calm and relaxed during handling. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Wandy put body between assessor and toy, showing no growling or stiffness. She was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Wandy was brought by the police according to officer Wandy bit a lady on her upper right arm but it was not sign of open wound. Wandy did not show any concern during the behavior assessment but because of her reported bite history the behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 2. 06/01/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
6/1: Wandy greets at the gate with a quick sniff then turns away to sniff the ground. Due to her status and hold she is muzzled then introduced. She offers a few bounces and remains loose througout the interaction. Eventually she is too distracted and spends her time attempting to remove her muzzle. She arrived at the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before placing her into a home with another dog.
