I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/08/2016 from NY 11233, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-060621.

06/08/16 15:20 Wallie is a 4 year old neutered Yorkshire terrier mixed. He was given to owner as a gift and has been in owners care for 4 years. He is being surrendered into our center due to owner having personal problems. There are no known health injuries or concerns. Around strangers he is friendly due to his age he doesn’t really interact with adults in play. He lived with a 3 year old and was playful and gentle with him; also protective when he was a baby Wallie wouldn’t allow anyone near him. He lived with 2 other male dog’s age 10 Yorkie mix and 16 Shih Tzu mix and was relaxed and playful. There is no known experience with other dogs or with other animals. There is no known history of him biting another person or animal. When hearing loud noises and people around the home he will bark; he also bark and lunges at other small breed dog. Larger breed dogs he is friendly with. During storms of fireworks he isn’t bothered. When his food bowl is being touched he is friendly; he will only growl when the other dogs will approach. When treats or objects are being taken away he will growl and snap. He is friendly when he gets baths and isn’t bothered when her nails are trimmed. He loves his coat being brushed and is friendly when being held or restrained. When unfamiliar people approach you or the home he will bark. Wallie is described as being friendly with a medium activity level that would do best in a home with kids but no other pets. He likes to play with his family and will either follow you around at home or be in his favorite spot. He likes to play with toy balls or squeaky and will enjoy any games you play with him. He ate Beneful dry food at least 2 times a day and his favorite treats are Bacon Strips or Greenies. He is house trained but at times liked to mark within the home. When left in the home alone he is well behaved. He is crate trained and can stay in there overnight. On the leash he walks for exercise and pulls lightly; off leash he will keep distance and is hard to catch. Usually he potty on grass.

Wallie previously lived with adults and a 3 year old child. The owner stated Wallie is friendly and gentle with adults and the 3 year old child. The owner mentioned Wallie lived with 2 other male dogs and was relaxed and playful with them. The owner describes Wallie as mellow, with a medium activity level, he is house trained, crate trained and well behaved when home alone. It was reported by the owner when Wallie food bowl is being touched he is friendly but he will only growl when the other dogs will approach, also when treats or objects are being taken away he will growl and snap towards people. At intake it was reported Wallie had loose body posture with his tail wagging, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Wallie came into the assessment room calm and a bit fearful, he was friendly and social towards the assessor with a slow approach. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Wallie follows but a bit fearful during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Wallie was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns with resources, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is between his legs, body a bit fearful with his mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: Wallie’s previous owner reported that he lived with two other male dogs and was relaxed and playful with them. Here at the Care Center he greets each dog appropriately but mostly keeps to himself and wanders the pen.

When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Wallie wanders in the pen, correcting dogs that continually solicit him to play. 6/9: Wallie greets each dog appropriately but mostly keeps to himself and wanders the pen. 6/12: Wallie will correct a dog that continually solicits him to play.
