Around adults and children, Walker is relaxed, respectful and playful. Walker has been exposed to cats, playful. Owner states Walker may growl or bark at older men. Walker is reportedly not bothered when any food, treat, or toy is taken from him. When someone unfamiliar approaches the home, family member or yard, Walker may bark or growl. Walker is described as friendly, shy, and affectionate. He knows the cues ‘sit, down, give paw and stay’. Walker was nervous but allowed handling during his initial medical exam. He dropped his head low during leashing, was a bit flinch with quick movements, pulled a bit on leash. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, relaxed. Walker was cautious and a bit tense during Sensitivity item, but tolerated the handling. He was distracted and unresponsive to touch during Tag game. Walker did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He showed minimal interest in Toy, though this may be due to environment as owner reports Walker ‘s favorite toys are balls, bones, stuffed toys, loves to play tug and fetch. Walker approached the helper dog with tail above spine level, not stiff. The Behavior Team feels Walker would do best with an Experienced adopter. He may benefit from a slow approach/slow introduction to give him time to warm up. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture.
