03/30/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Forget about Mark, Donnie and Paul…the only Wahlberg you need is right here!! To be fair, this guy had my heart at “12 years old”, but to my delight, he is SO sweet and charming! He’s definitely past his prime and has some hind leg issues that make him channel a wind-up toy when he walks, but Wahlberg is still eager to go out and about (it just takes him longer!). He seems to have housetraining, LOVES treats (he knows “sit” but it’s a little challenging for him as so he’s happy to accept them for free), and has displayed soft body language when meeting other dogs in our care. On our first walk, he tried to pick up every stray tennis ball he spotted, and if his body didn’t get in the way I’m sure he’d be a fetching super star (he trots after it when I throw, but usually only makes it for one go). He’ll lay at my feet, likes to be petted, and even offers little tail wags. In a position where he would be totally entitled to be grumpy and unsocial, Wahlberg has proven to be a resilient gentleman! He would love to eat burgers with you, fall asleep watching Ted, (from the softest bed because he deserves it!) and just to be a part of your funky bunch for the rest of his days. Please come see him at Brooklyn ACC and fall in love.
