PLAYGROUP:
When off leash with other dogs, Waffle does not approach when greeted by a social female. Waffle will explore the yard and is avoidant of the interaction.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
During his initial medical exam, Waffle was tense but allowed handling.
ENERGY LEVEL:
We have no history on Waffle so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. In the care center Waffle displayed a low to medium level of activity.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced adopter, adults only
_X_No children (under 13) – Due to how uncomfortable Waffle is currently with touch and novel stimuli, we feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time.
Potential challenges:
_X_Fearful – Waffle is timid though shows good coping skills when uncomfortable. He manages his stress well but will do best with a very slow approach, and should be permitted to greet new people at his own pace and to initiate interaction (rather than being approached and pet immediately by a new person) so he has time to adjust. He should be spoken to softly and gently and never be forced to submit to handling or petting while he is not fully comfortable.
