05/26/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Violet is a pretty flower found as a stray. Nothing is known about her past but we believe that she has been well fed and well housed as she looks quite healthy and remarkably groomed. She probably was a mother, and not that long ago. Violet is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. She is one love bug who will make you feel like the most beautiful and wonderful person in the whole wide world. Sit on a bench and she will spread herself over your lap, roll on her back for rubs and will give loads of kisses and hugs. She enjoys sitting behind you too, and being squeezed against the back of the chair while being caressed, of course. She loves treats and takes then quite politely from the hand after sitting like a good girl. She pulls on the leash and does her business at once as she enters the yard. Violet does not seem fond of other dogs although she appears to be fine with some. She should probably be the only dog until she settles down in a homey environment if she gets the chance to be adopted or fostered. Violet, tiny like the flower she carries the name of, is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Center.
05/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Violet walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Violet was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She took the toy away but had soft body language. Violet did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy.
05/25/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs, Violet is tense and stands tall when greeted, hackles raised. When another dog attempts to mount, she offers loud correction. She then continues to follow the other dog, body tense, and T-ing his shoudlers.
