I am a male gray and white labrador retr mix. The shelter thinks I am about 12 YEARS old.

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 03/17/2016 from NY 11216, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

03/20/16 12:56 S/O: BAR, crusted and ulcerated wound on head, drinking and eating well A: wound on head P: continue baytril and tramadol add clavamox PO BID needs sedated wound treatment (due to age, best if this is done at a private vet hospital) 03/19/16 10:52 Senior dog with ruptured cyst or abscess on the head cleaned with muzzle on the dog – dog bites and does not like , gets exhausted – can not clip the hair around the wound because caking in with hardened d/c dog needs to be rescued from the facility and put under careful and proper anesthesia to clip the wound for ACC shelter we can manage with cleaning the wound daily rec. 03/17/16 07:47 am Easy in easy out of the crate the officers brought him in , easy in on leash , allow us to pet him anywhere on hes body , medical had no problem with doing a vax shots or even a dog exam. Didnt really like walk rather like to lay on the floor relaxing.

A volunteer writes: Once upon a time Vinny was young, handsome and someone’s beloved companion. Vinny is now a senior, doesn’t walk well, gets tired easily and is all alone. How can that be? Joining us as a “stray” with a large wound on the top of his head which is being treated by our vet, Vinny was happy for a slow walk outside to go potty, enjoy some treats and company, and then lay down to rest. He enjoys some easy petting and more treats before needing some help to stand again and walk slowly back inside. Vinny is dreaming of the life he had before with someone to love and love him back, good care and good food. He is, of course, dreaming of that again for what should be his golden years. Surely we can find it in our hearts to provide this sweet boy what he needs most now? A soft bed, good food, hands made for petting, gentle walks and lots of love. He’ll make it easy to love him, I guarantee it.

03/17/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Due to the possibility of discomfort as a result of the handling, his overall medical condition, and our desire to decrease stress in the care center Vinny’s SAFER will not be completed. Vinny came to us as a stray; so we do not have any behavior information other than what has been observed while in the kennel. Vinny is very geriatric in his kennel and does not seem to be able to walk or stand without assistance. Upon intake Vinny allowed all handling as well as during his medical exam with no signs of aggression. We recommend placement with a rescue at this time.
