AUGUST 2016

A volunteer writes:
I so remember Lady…Some dogs make a big impression on us and sometimes we do not even know why….She was with us few months ago when her owner hit a bump on the road. Lady went back home quickly but somehow came back for the same reason but after having been left in an empty apartment for weeks, fed probaly by a good samaritan…Lady still looks beautiful, healthy and well nourished, active and with the spirit of a real trooper.  She is patient in her den that is clean and orderly. She is excited to come out and her first task is to attend to “business’. So housetrained ! Lady is as dark as night and of course, pictures taking at dusk do not help. Just believe me, she is really good looking and owns a very nice smile.. She has no handling issues, sits on command and loves treats that she takes nicely from my hand. She pulls a little on the leash and meets in a civil way other dogs. In the one playgroup I saw her with a lively male, she was having the time of her life, forgetting everything beside her new friend and their game… I so love and respect dogs like her. True survivors and spirits…Lady is that kind of dog..She is not what one would call a “crowd pleaser” but she is a solid pooch with great qualities and to back it up, has a great behavioral evaluation. I hope my Lady will head soon for a better life. She so deserves it !

Another volunteer writes:
“Gentlewoman,” “duchess,” “dame,” “baroness,” “countess.” It’s no coincidence that all are synonyms for “lady.” Our Lady is a true beauty in her ebony coat, her fur lush and thick like as if made for winter-wear, and with a perfectly refined face best suited to support a crown. Were there ever to be any doubt that she is true royalty, her manners lay those thoughts to rest. She walks beautifully on leash (like she has petals underfoot) and sits without an ask, treats or no. When we encounter a young and barky pup (a ruffian) not quite as sophisticated as she (who is?) she merely passes him by calmly and I almost expect her to regally wave. Yes, there’s no question that Lady is royalty, she is the Queen of hearts. She’s waiting to capture yours at Manhattan’s ACC.
