08/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tyson previously lived with adults, children ages 4 through 6 years old and another dog. The owner stated when around strangers Tyson is shy for a few minutes and plays gently with adults and the children. The owner mentioned Tyson lived with another dog and they are relaxed and playful with one another. The owner describes Tyson as friendly, affectionate, playful and shy. It was reported by the owner Tyson is house trained, has a high activity level and well behaved in the home but will dig in the yard when left alone. At intake it was reported Tyson allowed all handling. During the SAFER Tyson came into the assessment room tense and uncomfortable, he was not interested with the assessor. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as Tyson had stiff body posture and didn’t allow being pet when attempted by the assessor on the Look item. He displayed no interest in the toy resource item during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time as he is highly uncomfortable in shelter. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Tyson greets the other dog nervously. He mostly keeps to himself as he wanders in the pen. He is tolerant of the other dog’s continual greetings.
08/04/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
