01/15/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: What time is it? Time to meet the cutest, smartest, most playful and adorable little character this side of Curious George…say hello to Casio! Petite yet perfectly chunky, this beautiful mush-faced boy seems to be some magical mix of Staffie-Pittie-Bulldoggy goodness and I’ve never seen another pup quite like him. His oversize personality is the stuff of legend and his affectionate temperament is sugar and spice and all things nice–with a little extra spice thrown in for good measure! Casio is a snuggler extraordinaire and he spends much of his time hugging my legs, kissing my cheek or hopping up onto the bench and nuzzling his head right into my lap. With great social skills, playful energy to spare (he loves a good game of fetch) and the manners of a regal gentleman, Casio truly has it all. He seems to be house trained, knows commands for come and sit and is even ambidextrous–shaking paw with both right and left! Synchronize your watch to maximum sweetness and hurry in to our Manhattan Care Center for a date with the one and only Casio. A dog this perfect shouldn’t have to wait another day!
01/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Casio walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Casio was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He was not interested in toys. Casio did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy: 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: Casio engages in brief bouts of play with a playful female dog.
01/12/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Casio offers polite greeting and engages in bouts of play with males and females, often with the intent to mount female dogs (he is currently unaltered). He offers correction when mounted or for pusy solicitation. Based on observations made in our care, the behvaior department recommends a pre adoption interaction for Casio before placement into a home with another dog. When off leash with other dogs, Casio greets politely. He solicits brief play with the intent to mount. 1/13: Casio engages in brief bouts of play with a playful female dog. 1/14: Casio offers polite greeting. He becomes a bit bouncy and playful with another playful dog. 1/15 update: Casio engages in bouts of play with males and females, but offers correction when the male offers pushy solicitations.
