06/30/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/30/16 13:14 Tyme is a young adult female APBT mix. She was found in an empty apt with 2 other young female APBT’s. Their finder reports that they were friendly with him. He brought them to ACC in his car. Tyme had a loose wiggly body and wagging tail during her intake. She allowed handling. She pulled towards the other dogs when they were walked away from each other.
07/05/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Tyyyyyyme is on my side, yes she is! I can’t help singing the old Stones song to my gorgeous date as we chase each other through the yard because unlike her two sisters (Chia and Susu) it seems she’s not really a ‘dog’s dog’ and regardless of who’s in the pen next door, flitting around after her human or tossing a toy up in the air is where Tyme prefers to be. Her favorite games are a bouncy round of chase or fetch but the whole world is her playground and anything and everything in it is worth investigating, if only for a minute or two. She seems quite house trained but will need a little brush up on her sit, stay and leash walking skills and plenty of playtime and toys to keep her mind occupied in between lessons. Treats are appreciated and mouthed with delicacy from my hand and she’s happy to share snuggles and accept kisses too. Tyme was a teen Mom but her baby making days are done and now she’s looking forward to enjoying a second puppyhood of her own. She’s beautiful, friendly, fun and just about everything an active family could want in a pet so there’s really only one question left to ask…are you ready to play?!!
07/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tyme pulls a bit on leash. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Tyme was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She was fearful while playing tag but unresponsive to the touch. Tyme was not interested in toys. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Tyme is fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Tyme is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs Tyme is initially tense and uncomfortable. She relaxes over time and will continuously approach to sniff the female helper dog.
07/01/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Tyme has become increasingly more comfortabel during on leash interaction and has begun to engage in play with other dogs. However, due to the time it has taken for Tyme to become most comfortable, the behavior team recommends a pre-adoption interaction between Tyme and resident dogs, as well as slow, positive introductions at Tyme’s pace. She arrived into our care with two other dogs without history on their in-home behaviors, so they are not known, and it is unknown how Tyme’s behavior will translate outside the care center. 7/1: When off leash with other dogs Tyme is initially tense and uncomfortable. She relaxes over time and will continuously approach to sniff the female helper dog. 7/2 update: Tyme is more comfortable upon entering the yard today. She greets a social female and offers a few “butt bumps” but does not fully engage in play. 7/3: Tyme is a bit tense and flinches when approached. 7/5 update: Tyme engages in a bit of play, and is tolerant of mounting during. 7/6: Tyme initially becomes aroused by play around her, however begins to engage. 7/7: Tyme engages in play with her housemate. 7/8 update: Tyme greets politely and explores the pen. She engages in bouncy play with her housemates. 7/9 update: Tyme is getting more comfortable interacting with other dogs. She is relaxed throughout her interaction and will engage briefly in play. 7/10: Tyme continues to engage briefly in play. 7/11: Tyme greets other dogs politely, then roams around. 7/12: Tyme continues to display these behaviors.
