PROFILE – Basic information:
Tyler is a 1 yr. old German Shepherd mix. The Owner got her from a pet store; he has owned Tyler for over a year The owner surrendered Nemo because he is moving to a place that does not allow dogs. Tyler has no health problems and was last taken to a vet over a year ago.
Socialization:
Around strangers Tyler is friendly playful. Tyler has not lived with children but he is relaxed and playful around children and adults he does not know. Tyler has lived with a 2 yr old cat, Tyler was relaxed around him though can play rough at times. Tyler has never bitten anyone.
Behavior:
The owner stats that Tyler is not bothered when some moves his food or treats while he is eating, when someone takes his toys away or when someone disturbs him while sleeping. Tyler likes to be brushed and given bathes but has never had his nails trimmed. When an unfamiliar person or animal approaches a family member or his home he barks at them for a while then relaxes. The owner says that Tyler is not bothered by loud noises such as storms or fireworks.
For a new family to know:
The owner describes Tyler as friendly, affectionate and playful with a very high activity level. His favorite activity is to play fetch with his owner. In the home Tyler tends to follow the owner around the house and is kept mainly indoors. Tyler sleeps in the floor of the bedroom on a blanket. Tyler was fed blue buffalo dry dog food two times a day. He is house trained and has never had an accident in the home, when outside he goes to the bathroom on or around trees and grass. Tyler knows the commands “sit “and “stay”. For exercise Tyler is used to brisk walks on the leash and three times a day and does not pull on the leash.
Behavior during intake:
Tyler was relaxed with lose body. Tyler allowed us to scan (+), collared, photograph and placed in dog kennel.
When off leash with other dogs, Tyler solicits rough play, but may not be aware of his own size during play.
4/11 update: Tyler engages in rough play with a another playful male. When introduced to a female, he attempts to mount.
