06/17/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: He’s a head turner! A stunning shining coat, big smile, wagging tail, and a big personality all wrapped up in this fun loving, energetic dog. Surrendered due to a child in the home developing allergies, we’re told that Turbo is friendly and outgoing with strangers, lived with kids ranging from 4-13 years old, is relaxed and playful with the kids and all adults, is great with other dogs (came in with Mino A0926953), is crate trained, doesn’t guard his toys but does guard his food. Turbo and I enjoyed a short walk; he pulls hard on leash, so will benefit from some leash training and a harness, sits when asked for treats, chased a ball in the backyard and enthusiastically jumped in my lap for some kisses. He’s tail-waggy, energetic, friendly (strangers become friends in a nanosecond), and has a big effervescent personality. He’s a big puppy, a gorgeous one, who needs a bit of structure and training to become the rockstar adult dog he’s destined to be. Turbo is loving life as a happy go lucky puppy and is looking for that person or family to love him, work with him and guide him. If you’re ready for a ‘turbo-charged’ dog in your life, a dog who greets every day with an enthusiastic smile and a tail wag, Turbo is hoping to meet you today. Another volunteer writes: Wanna play? You bring the praise and petting and Turbo will bring the toys! This handsome young hunk has the perfect balance of high spirits and good manners. He’s silly but not hyper, sweet-natured yet full of fun, and he already knows and obeys his commands for come, sit and stay just like a big boy. When Turbo waltzes down the street with his plush toy held high, passersby gravitate toward his happy energy and awww over his cuteness, and as a fellow volunteer exclaims in delight, ‘he is TOO much!’ But really, there’s no such thing as too much Turbo, and he’s ready to share a lifetime of kisses, cuddles and playdates with his lucky new family starting today. Come to our Manhattan Care Center and meet the friendliest, funniest, smartest puppy on the block. I guarantee you’ll leave with a smile on your face…and hopefully a new best friend!

Turbo may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address his possible food guarding behavior. In addition to food behavior modification protocol we recommend teaching Turbo “Drop It” and trade-up games. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experience home. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 3.
