05/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tru came to us as an owner surrender due the owner’s landlord not allowing dogs in the building. According to the owner Tru is described as loving, playful and lived with children from the ages of 6 to 10. Around the children he was said to be playful and would allow them to pet him, but he did not like when they would pull his tail and would snort at them when this happened. Tru isn’t bothered when his food touched while eating. Tru has growled before when he say a child being physically disciplined by their parent and he growled at the parent. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Tru is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER at this time. Upon intake it was reported that Tru was very alert to every move the admissions counselor made and would growl at every attempt the counselor made to touch him. After a few minutes though he did relax and approach the counselor with a wagging tail. During his medical exam Tru reportedly lunged and growled when in the kennel, but lunged at the handler when the kennel door was opened. Once out of the kennel Tru was said to calm down though still have tense body language. A SAFER assessment will not be conducted due to safety and stress level concerns.
