Trixey came to the care center as a stray so her behavior in a home is unknown. Upon intake, she allowed all handling and had a loose body. Trixey walked nicely on leash, no pulling. She whined during positioning for her SAFER assessment. Once positioned, she allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, a bit tense, eyes averted. Trixey stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, ears and tail neutral. She followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, soft. Trixey did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze attempts. She showed no interest in Toy. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Trixey mostly keeps to herself as she wanders in a group of male and female dogs. Behaviorally, Trixey presents as an Average dog. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted, a bit tense, whining upon positioning Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed Toy 1. No interest. Dog-Dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Trixey mostly keeps to herself as she wanders in a group of male and female dogs. She seeks handler interaction and will offer correction to a male that persistently attempts to mount her.
