Trexie is all grown up but just as adorable as she was few years ago when we first met. She looks quite serious, she always did. She is beautiful in her flawless and shiny oreo dress. Her weight is perfect. Her face looks like a painting…dark velvety eyes and that one ear up….Trexie always sits at her door, ready to leave her den..in company, of course. She might look a bit independent at first but she is not. She loves people and she likes dogs too(she enjoys her time in playgroups with her peers). On the leash, Trexie pulls. Off leash, she trots like an elegant and slightly bouncy horse. She is clearly puzzled by her new premises and sniffs a lot the grass in the yard. She shows only a brief interest in the tennis balls or the toys. She sits upon request and takes treats gently from my hand. She rushes on the double when I call her, landing with her forelegs on my lap and kissing my face like there is no tomorrow. Forget about taking a cuddly picture with Trexie. She is very “private” , becomes suddenly very camera shy and escapes to the other end of the pen…She likes to waltz , front paws in my hands. No salsa for her. Next time, I will bring some music… Trexie is “Me Lady”… I so look forward to see her each time I am at the care center. My dream, though is to find her kennel empty and to be told that a wonderful owner or family took her home as their precious forever best friend. Trexie is at the Manhattan Care Center hoping to meet you soon…

Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture, open mouth
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, lightly jumps on assessor at end of game
Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed
Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, then walks away.
Summary: Trexie displayed no concerning behavior during her assessment.
Playgroup:
When off leash with a male dog, Trexie greets politely. She will solicit with spin moves and playbows.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
During her initial medical exam, Trexie was tense but allowed handling.
ENERGY LEVEL:
We have no history on Trexie so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. Trexie is a young, enthusiastic, social dog. She will need daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in addition to physical exercise, to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
