02/16/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/16/16 18:39 BASIC INFO Treasure is a geriatric spayed miniature Poodle. Her previous family moved in with her current family 7 years ago, moved out 2 months, and left her and their cat behind. Their current family is unable to keep them. Treasure is hearing and vision impaired. She has strong smelling urine, has a mass on her abdomen, and whines when she lies down. SOCIALIZATION Treasure barks and snaps at new people who touch her or walk by. She lived with a child who’s currently 9 and barked and snapped at him when he sat next to her. She has bit her family members when they try to move her around or put her in a carrier. She nips at people’s shoes when they walk by as well. Her bites have never broken skin. She lived with a cat. They tried to avoid each other. When they did encounter each other, Treasure would bark at the cat and he would scratch her. This occurred on 2/14/16; he scratched her under her eye, drawing blood. Her family cleaned this at home. She’s never inflicted injuries upon the cat. BEHAVIOR Treasure doesn’t mind storms. When someone approaches her while she eats, she growls, and freezes, hovered over her food. She growls, snaps, and bites when someone moves her off furniture, or wakes her up. She growls when someone moves in their sleep while they sleep. She’s nervous but tolerant during baths. When brushed, she bites her brush. She doesn’t mind being held if she approaches someone for attention, but may growl, snap, and/or bite if they go to her and pick her up. When new people come over, she barks, growls, snaps, and/or bites them. When someone approaches her family, she sometimes barks and sometimes doesn’t mind. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Treasure’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, mellow, and low energy. She spends her time with a teenage girl in her home, and often cuddles with her. She lived inside and slept with her human friend. She ate chicken, rice, and beans. She was trained to potty on the bathroom floor. She’s well-behaved while left alone. She knows sit. She goes for occasional slow walks and doesn’t pull on her leash. INTAKE Treasure had a soft body and wagging tail as she walked around on the floor. She growled while I scanned her (-). Her owner collared her and positioned her for pictures. She walked with us on our leash and approached us and sniffed us but growled when we reached towards her.

02/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Treasure was a bit difficult to remove from her kennel she was in the back in the kennel with a low and fearful body language avoiding any interaction with the handler. Once she came out she walks with a low fearful body language on leash. She was not sociable with a fearful body language, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. Treasure was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Treasure was not interested in toys. She does not approach other dog, turns body to side. Treasure was surrender to us. Treasure’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, mellow, and low energy. Treasure barks and snaps at new people who touch her or walk by. When someone approaches her while she eats, she growls, and freezes. Because of her owner profile The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, shy body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor.
