10/08/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Is it possible to look at Toretto’s soft, sweet smile and not fall in love? Don’t ask me, I’m already a goner! He’s a bit of a shy guy at first but so happy to get out and about and when he begins to beam it’s like sunshine on a cloudy day, just the thing to brighten up a dull evening and guaranteed to make walking him a treat rather than a chore. Easy to handle, friendly with people and dogs alike, seemingly house trained and already well-versed in come, sit and stay commands, it’s clear that Toretto is no ‘stray’ and was a well cared for pet in his former home. He’s feeling a little lost in his new digs at the Care Center but still trying to keep an open and hopeful heart and he’s such a pleasure to spend time with, not to mention extremely handsome, that his fan club is growing by the day. Toretto is ready to rock and roll, right out the door and back into the kind of happy home life he deserves…will you be waiting for him?
10/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
disregard
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience Adult Home Only _X_No children (under 13) Potential challenges: _X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control (It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute frustration and teach him to control his impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training is recommended.) _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Toretto has been observed to display fearful behavior during his stay at our care centers; at times will avoid interaction and shy away from direct-touch. Toretto easily startles and is made uncomfortable by loud noises and sudden movement and will display proper warning signals as well as increase distance from anything that may present a threat. We cannot be certain if any other behavior is suppressed as a result of his environment. A period of decompression is advised before introduction or exposure to new and unfamiliar situations. Force-free, reward based training is advised.)
10/06/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with a spayed female Toretto greets then begins to exhibit sexually motivated behaviors. He will follow the helper dog sniffing/licking and chattering, but he does not attempt to mount. He arrived at the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department recommends only placing Toretto with a social, respectful dog as well as doing slow introductions with any resident dogs.
