08/29/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/29/17 17:45 Basic Information: Toots is a 2 year old, white and brown female dog. She was purchased off of a breeder but the owner cannot keep her due to the aggression toward another dog in the home. She last went to the vet about 7 months ago and had no known health problems. Socialization: Around strangers Toots is friendly but around children she shows signs of aggression and growls at the new baby in the home. She plays somewhat rough with adults and doesn’t play with the children. Toots doesn’t like the other large breed dog in the home and is aggressive but is playful towards the smaller breed dog in the home. She has never bitten another person but has bitten another dog. Behavior: Toots isn’t bothered by people touching her food bowl or taking a toy or bone away from her. She doesn’t mind the bath and won’t try to jump out at all. For a New Family to Know: Toots is friendly and has a medium activity level. She loves to run around and play with ball and stuffed toys. She eats dry, Pedigree dog food. She is house trained and goes potty outside on the grass and well behaved in the yard. Her commands she knows are sit and she goes running and jogging for exercise. Off the leash, Toots will stay close by your side. Behavior During Intake: Toots walked in slowly with a stiff body and head down. She allowed me to collar her and scan her for a microchip. She allowed me to take a picture of her and when it came to going in the kennel she had a very loose body and stepped in by herself.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with behaviors outlined below) _X_No young children (under 5): Due Toot’s reported history of growling at the baby in the home, we recommend a home without young children. Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Toots previous owner reported she growls at the new baby in the home. It is important to always go slow and give Toots the option to walk away from any social interaction. Toots should never be forced to approach anything that she is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be Toots’ choice to approach a new person or thing. Toots would do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to her new surroundings.
