05/03/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tommy previously lived with 1 adult and two children age12 and 2 years old. The owner stated Tommy is playful, relaxed and also somewhat rough when playing, he also lived with two cats and was tolerant but when the cats would come near he would growl. The owner mentioned when Tommy food bowl is touched he will growl and when treats are taken away he will gently nip. It was reported by the owner Tommy is house trained, has a medium activity level and well behaved when home alone or in the yard. The owner reported Tommy growl and nip at the 12 year old son after he was playing with him and tried to touch his food bowl but (didn’t break or puncture skin.) At intake it was reported Tommy was nervous with his tail tucked, he did allow all handling. During safer Tommy came into the assessment room nervous with his tail tucked, he was friendly and social towards the assessor with a slow approach. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Tommy was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Tommy was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner Tommy will growl when his food bowl is being touch; the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is fearful, trembles and his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is between his legs, body a bit tense, trembles with his mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog licks, then turns away. Dog-dog: Tommy’s previous owner reported that he has spent time with other dogs in dog parks and was relaxed and very playful but he can be somewhat fearful with larger breed dogs. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, he does not approach or greet them. He appears very nervous with a tucked tail and tense body and maintains a constant distance from them as they approach him.
05/01/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Tommy’s previous owner reported that he has spent time with other dogs in dog parks and was relaxed and very playful but he can be somewhat fearful with larger breed dogs. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, he does not approach or greet them. He appears very nervous with a tucked tail and tense body and maintains a constant distance from them as they approach him. Due to Tommy being uncomfortable with dogs, the Behavior Department recommends that a thorough dog-dog interaction be done before Tommy is adopted into a home with another dog. 5/5: Tommy enters the pen with a tuck tail and avoids eye contact with the other dog at the gate. When the gate is open, Tommy was given a chance to greet the other dog while a handler held her leash. He kept a distance much of the time. When the gate was closed he reproach the dog and solicit play with play bows, while baring his teeth and becoming vocal. 5/24: Tommy is nervous when entering the pen. He becomes uncomfortable when the other dog greets him and offers correction. The session is ended.
