Hello, my name is Toga. My animal id is #9601. I am a male chocolate dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 12-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- landlord won’t allow.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
A volunteer writes: Handsome, young, healthy and probably strong. This is what’s going though my mind looking at Toga in his kennel. Should I risk it? The temptation wins, Toga is leashed rather easily. He pulls all right and his first task is to pee a river. His master said “partially house trained”. I guess, when given a chance, a dog does what needs to be done. Toga is quite well behaved in the yard. He loves hopping on the bench but each time is scared to come down. He needs lots of coaching to make the jump. Treats are his thing. He has a good nose and spotted right away my goodies bag that he does not attempt to snatch. He will not sit though despite many many prompts, but will jump to get what he wants. Toga can be easily redirected, so, I feel quite good about him and his potential to curb his little flaws. He is a very sweet guy who likes to huddle with his caretaker in a quiet spot and kiss her galore. Who would think that he is such a loving boy just looking at him in his kennel? Toga seems to like other dogs, nears them nonchalantly through our pen’s gate and seems to like soft play in playgroups with his peers. He is not wary of people entering our area and is rather curious and eager to make new friends. Toga was surrendered into our care because of landlord issues. He is said to be very friendly with strangers, children and to play exuberantly with other dogs. He is high energy but likes to watch TV with his owners. I do feel good about Toga. He is a good dog who needs some training and who will make a top of the line forever companion and best friend. Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care center.
