I am a neutered male brown and tan chihuahua sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 4 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 12/03/2016 from NY 11216, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB.

12/04/16 13:57 Basic information Toby is a 4 year old dog. He seems to be a short hair chihuahua. He is male altered dog. Owner is surrendering due to personal problems and his behavior. There are no injuires or health problems owner is aware of. Socialization Around strangers, she doesnt do well by growling and barking. He has not lived or spent time with children. He plays somewhat rough with adults. He has been around a smaller dog and is fearful of the dog. He doesnt play with the other dog. he has not lived with a cat. There is no bite history of a person or animal. Behavior Owner stated he is anxious when left alone, barks too much, and doesnt get along with strangers. During stors he is nervous.When touching foo bowll he growls, Taking a bone away he growls and snaps. When taking a toy out his mouth he growls and tried to snap. He isnt bothered given a bath and brushing his coat. Trimming of nails is unkown. For the new family to know Owner described him as shy, fearful, and anxious. She likes playing with chewbones. She guards and alerts. She eats both dry and wet food. He is mostly house trained and has accidents a few times a week. When left alone in house he barks and whines. He doesnt know commands yet. He likes slow walks on leash. When on leash he pulls hard and when off leash is unknown. Behavior upon intake counselor did not handle. Dog was nopt receptive to handling. Counselor could not collar or scan.

When the owner has attempted to take a toy out his mouth he growls and snaps. Bite history: None reported Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Owner described him as shy, fearful, and anxious. Other notes: Owner reports that Toby does not do well with strangers and will bark/growl KNOWN HISTORY: 10/18/16 Profile Neutered, Owner Surrender Previously lived with: Adults Behavior toward children: Toby has spent time with a four year old child, he is reported to bark and attempt to bite. Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Unknown FG/RG: None reported Bite history: None reported Housetrained: Toby is not housed trained and uses the bathroom in the house. He does use the bathroom outside but may still come in the house to urinate/defecate Energy level/descriptors: Toby is described as shy, fearful and affectionate. Other notes: During intake Toby was inside a crate, he growled and barked when the crate was approached. Toby attempted to snap at counselors hand when the crate door was opened. Toby was handled with the assistance of his owner, he was not collared. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 10/20/16 Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is a bit tense; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is between his legs, body a bit tense with his mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Summary: Toby displayed no concern during his behavior assessment. PLAYGROUP: According to Toby’s previous owner, Toby has not been around other dogs.
