08/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
TJ came into our center citing moving issues. Owner reports he is not bothered if anyone touches his Food, Toys, Treats, knows the cues ‘sit’, ‘come’ and ‘stay’. He walked nicely on leash for his relief walk, no pulling. TJ was friendly and sociable upon entering SAFER assessment area. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, eyes and body soft. TJ stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, ears and tail neutral. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft, settled easily at the end. TJ did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He showed minimal interest in Toy, though this may be due to environment as owner reports he likes stuffed toys, as well as games of chase. TJ approached the helper dog with his tail above spine level, investigated and then turned away. The Behavior Team feels TJ would do well with an Average adopter. TJ will require regularly scheduled professional grooming appointments, approximately every 10-12 weeks (3-4 X a year) to keep his coat mat and tangle free for his comfort. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
