09/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tina previously lived with 2 adults and has been around children. The owner stated Tina is friendly around strangers, adults and children. The owner mentioned Tina is reactive towards other dogs and cats, she will lunge towards them. At intake it was reported Tina was calm and allowed all handling. During SAFER Tina came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Tina was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Tina was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner (Tina being reactive towards other animals), the behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter and we recommend the only pet in the household. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash as the care center, Tina approaches the gate with a stiff posture and high tail. She greets through the fence and then walks away. Once the helper dog is allowed into the pen, Tina greets briefly and begins to loosen up but does not engage further. She does seek attention from the handler in the yard.
09/11/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Tina’s previous owner reported that she is not friendly towards other dogs and she will lunge and bark at them when she sees them. 9/12: When off leash as the care center, Tina approaches the gate with a stiff posture and high tail. She greets through the fence and then walks away. Once the helper dog is allowed into the pen, Tina greets briefly and begins to loosen up but does not engage further. She does seek attention from the handler in the yard. 9/16: Tina enters the pen very tense but greets appropriately, then wanders the pen with the other dog. She is slightly uncomfortable but manages her comfort by keeping her distance and moving away when the other dog approaches her. 9/21: When greeting the male dog, Tina becomes focused and anxious to greet him. Once in the pen, Tina rushes to greet him, persistently muzzle licking him and remaining in his face. She is able to listen to handler interruptions and explores the pen.
