04/12/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Think luxurious, dark, rich, decadent marble cake that you can’t get enough of and that’s our Miss Tigress….her coat is lush and gorgeous, her amber eyes bright, intelligent, serious and sensitive. Her weight is perfect for her size, she’s likely housetrained, and while she pulls on the leash a bit it’s nothing major. She’s happiest sitting with me, looking back to make sure I have a hand free to pet her, then turning to snuggle closer, and when I sit on the ground with her she’s in my lap rolling over for a belly rub. She’s gentle and sweet, easy to be with, calm and mellow. Her lightly graying muzzle reflects the beginning of middle age but that’s the only sign we have that she’s an “older dog”. Intake staff noted that she is “friendly and obedient”, always a compliment during what could be a stressful process. Confirms her rock star status!! In her first playgroup Tigress allowed a brief greeting and offered a correction when needed. I loved my time with Tigress and wish it could have been more. She’s an awesome girl who has clearly enjoyed a good home before joining us. We’d love to see her wagging her tail, looking over her shoulder as she says good-bye to us here, walking out the door on her way to her happily ever after. Ask to meet her today.
04/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tigress pulls a bit on the leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Tigress was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She was easy to handle when chewing on toys Tigress did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Tigress allows brief greeting, eventually offers correction for solicitation.
04/07/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Tigress has been introduced twice to other dogs while off leash. On one occasion she was uncomfortable with play solicitation and offered correction in response. During her second interaction, Tigress showed more interest in play with another female. Due to having limited interaction with dogs, thebehavior department recommends a pre adoption interaction to ensure compatability with a resident dog. She arrived as a stray, so history around other dogs is unknown. When off leash with other dogs, Tigress allows brief greeting, eventually offers correction for solicitation. 4/12 update: Tigress engages in brief play with a female dog.
