03/28/15 13:25 During intake allowed to be scanned (negative), collared, scanned, and pictured without aggression. Approached extended hand and sniffed/licked it. When given treat took gently from hand. When touched had soft body. Surrenderer was feeding dry food and stated he has a high level of energy and was very vocal. He is relaxed and playful with other dogs and was exuberant to slightly rough when he plays. He appears to be house trained and played with rope toys.

A volunteer writes: Tigger and his sister Sunny (A1031563) are like two peas in a pod, a delightful pair of brindle beauties just brimming over with sweet puppy affection and playful energy. Tigger is almost twice Sunny’s size with the extra confidence and energy to match, and though it seems their previous owner never taught them how to walk on a leash (Tigger weaves back and forth like he was tipsy) both are adept at coming when called, sitting politely on command and taking treats with a wonderfully gentle mouth. When I sit on the bench Tigger is quick to join me and much as he loves to be petted and fussed over, I must admit it’s my pocket full of dried beef that keeps him there! Given the chance he’ll burrow his entire head inside to snuffle out more snacks and when I try to get a stand-up snuggle shot his face is tucked into my pocket once again. Running, leaping and roughhousing are his games of choice and a thrown tennis ball elicits little interest so we spend our date alternately chasing each other around and chilling out as I give him a good full-body massage – heavy on the butt rubs, please! Other dogs are met with vocal but very friendly manners and when we pass by his sister’s kennel Tigger recognizes her immediately and happily wags his tail in greeting. Tigger is everything you look for in a puppy; bright, gorgeous, playful and sociable, and with the loving guidance of his new parents he’s going to grow into an amazing adult. Spring has sprung and it’s the perfect time to add a fun-loving new pup to your pack – welcome Tigger home today!

Tigger was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, licked hands and face. He was easily over aroused and became very mouthy with assessor over the course of the assessment. The mouthing began to escalate after the Tag item, so much so that the Squeeze item was unable to be conducted due to the Tigger’s consistent jumping and nipping of the Assessor, especially in a seated position. Tigger was difficult to calm and did not deescalate. Tigger ate faster, was stiff and very difficult to push out of the food bowl, but did not growl, snap or bite. He had minimal interest in toys and mouthed rawhide but allowed both to be easily relinquished to the Assessor. Tigger was relinquished to the care center on March 28 with Sunny (A1031563). He was said to be a high energy dog that enjoys playing with other dogs but can be rough at times, as described by owner of 2 weeks. Tigger demonstrated high energy throughout the assessment and was difficult to position. His behavior escalated during the Tag portion of the test, he began applying pressure while mouthing Assessor’s pant leg and bit Assessor’s shoe, he did not deescalate easily. He ate faster, was stiff and very difficult to push out of the food bowl. The Behavior Department believes that due to his high arousal level, potential to escalate, and potential to guard food, that Tigger be placed with a New Hope partner that can work with him to positively modify his behaviors and provide him with sufficient mental and physical stimulation. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 3. Dog responds with his tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, body stiff and body checks the Assessor. Dog is often focused on other stimuli in the room. Squeeze: Not conducted due to behavior demonstrated after Tag item was complete. Food: 3. Dog gulps food, begins to eat faster and with bigger bites, body stiff. He does not lift head when hand is applied to cheek. Toy & Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog licks/mouths, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff. Helper: A1031169
