T = NA P = 100 R = pant BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes NS OU, ears erythematous (moist from Mometamax tx), no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Healthy adult dentition; Grade 0-1/4 dental dz PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: male intact, both testicles descended MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, two small (<1cm) adenomatous masses on dorsal aspect LH paw CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: not performed Assessment: Geriatric healthy Prognosis: Good Plan: Recommend NH placement. Recommend pre-anesthetic BW before neuter. SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to age

Basic Information: Tiger is a 12 year old large male dog that was surrendered by his owner due to the fact she is moving and can no longer have pets.
Previously lived with: Owner
How is this dog around strangers? Owner stated that when around strangers Tiger is friendly and outgoing. When playing with adults he is gentle.
How is this dog around children? Tiger has spent time in the home around children all ages and he is relaxed and affectionate. When playing with children he is gentle.
How is this dog around other dogs? Tiger has not spent time in the home with other dogs so it is unknown how he will react.
How is this dog around cats? Tiger has not spent time in the home with cats so it is unknown how he will react.
Resource guarding: Owner stated that if someone was to touch Tiger food or treats he is not bothered. If someone was to touch his toys he is friendly. If someone unfamiliar approaches his home or family member he will bark.
Bite history: Tiger has never bitten a person or another animal.
Housetrained: Yes
Energy level/descriptors: medium
Other Notes: Owner stated that overall tiger behaves well. During loud noises or fireworks he is nervous. Tiger is not bothered if he is retrained pushed off the couch or disturbed while he sleeps. Tiger will tolerate being bathed and brushed. He has never had his nails trimmed so it is unknown how he will react.

For a New Family to Know : Owner described tiger as friendly affectionate and playful. When at home he will follow his owner around. He likes to play with balls stuffed and chew bones. Tiger eats both wet and dry dog food. When using the bathroom he will go outside on the grass or cement. When left alone in the house or yard he is well behaved. He has never been crated so it is unknown how he will react. Tiger knows how to sit come when called lay down and stay commands in both Spanish and English. He is used to slow walks on the leash and playing in the yard. When on the leash he pulls very hard. When off the leash he will wander but comes back when called.
Behavior Notes: During intake Tiger allowed the counselor to collar him and take his picture with no problems.

Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. Allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft.
Paw squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Paw squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Toy: 1. No interest.
Summary: Tiger displayed no concerning behavior during his assessment. He was relaxed, and social towards the assessor.
PLAY GROUP :
According to Tiger’s previous owner, Tiger did not socialize with other dogs while in their care.
6/28: When off leash at the Care Centers, Tiger is sexually motivated but is easy to redirect. After his behavior is interrupted he explores the yard.
6/28: Tiger was social with both a novel male and female dog. He appropriately greets them before exploring the yard.
