A volunteer writes:   Thunder has found the fountain of youth, as until I looked at his age I would have sworn he’s a puppy!  Playful, energetic and fun, Thunder bounces around our pen discovering new scents, playing tug with a soft toy, wagging his tail and coming in for some cuddles.  Surrendered by the only family he’s ever known as they’re moving where he’s not welcome, they tell us that he’s friendly to all, is relaxed and respectful with the young children with whom he lived (ages 1,2 and 3), doesn’t guard his things, is housetrained and lets you know when he needs to go out by whining, is well behaved when left home alone and is very active.  Thunder pulled hard on the leash during our walk, maybe excitement at being out and discovering new things as his former person told us he only pulls lightly.  Fun, friendly, lively and affectionate and a proven family dog, Thunder is hoping he’ll have a new family to love soon.   He’s been nicely taken care of, knows what the circle of love is, and is ready for it.  Are you ready for Thunder?

PROFILE: 01/08/17 15:19

BASIC INFO

Thunder A1101203 is an approximately 8 year old American Ptibull/Rottweiler Mix.  He was a gift to the owner from a family member 8 years ago.  The main reason for surrender is that the owner is moving to a place where pets are not allowed.

SOCIALIZATION

Thunder is friendly around strangers.  He has lived with a 1, 2 1nd 3 year old child.  He was relaxed, playful and respectful with the kids. He plays gentle with both kids and adults alike.  Thunder has never lived with another animal.

BEHAVIOR

Thunder does not have any behavior issues.  He is not bothered by loud noises or thunder.  Thunder allows you to take away his food bowl, water bowl, or toy away.  He is not bothered if pushed off of furniture or if restrained.  Thunder is not bothered to be bathed.  If an unfamiliar approaches the doorway, he barks.

FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW

Thunder is best described as friendly, and playful.  He has a high activity level.  Thunder lets you know when he needs to go potty, by whining.  When home, he follows you around.  He enjoys playing with stuffed toys.  He has been kept mostly indoors.  Thunder is fed Pedigree dry dog food.  Thunder is house trained.  He usually goes potty on cement.  When left alone at home, he is well behaved.  When left alone in the yard, he is well behaved.  For exercise, he is allowed to run loose in the yard and he is also walked on and off the leash in a park.  Thunder does pull lightly on the leash.

BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE

Thunder allowed all handling, collaring and photos.  He looks as if he is smiling in the kennel when you speak to them.
