04/19/16 BASIC INFORMATION: Thor is a gray/ white American pit bull terrier. Thor was breed at home & has no known health issues. Thor came in together with mother Lady Bug & father, Thor. He was surrendered to ACC due to a residential move to a home that does not allow pets. SOCIALIZATION: Thor is friendly around strangers and loves getting pet. Thor has been exposed around 1-5 yr old children, Thor gets along with children & adults. Thor has resided with two other dogs. He plays & interacts with the other dogs. Thor gets along with other dogs when he is taken to the park, he will become playful towards them. Thor has not been exposed to cats or other small animals. Thor has not bitten or scratched another animal or person within the past 10 days. Thor is best described as a loving, affectionate & playful dog. BEHAVIOR: Thor does not show signs of aggression when owner touches food bowl while he is eating. Owner is able to take bone, toy or any object from his mouth with no problem. Thor enjoys bathing and grooming, when an unfamiliar person approaches the home, he barks & makes the owner aware. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Thor has a high activity level. Owners favorite things of Thor is, he is extremely playful & is always there to greet the owner. he loves to play chasing 2 liter plastic bottles & would do best in a family home. Thor has been crate trained and does well for up 8 hours. Thor is familiar with the commands sit, stop & come. For exercise, he loves to go out for brisk walks. He has been kept mostly indoors & enjoys eating dry & wet food from any brand. Thor will go potty on grass or cement, he is house trained and wee-wee pad trained. BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Upon intake, Thor displayed a loose body & an open mouth. Thor loved to receive attention from the counselor. Thor allowed all handling & scanned negative.

Thor previously lived with 1 adult and has been exposed to children ages 1-5 years old. The owner stated Thor gets along with children and adults; he also has resided with two other dogs. Thor plays and interacts with the other dogs. The owner describes Thor as loving, affectionate and playful. It was reported by the owner Thor is house trained, wee-wee pad trained, crate trained and does well up to about 8 hours. At intake it was reported Thor had loose body posture and very friendly, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Thor came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and playful towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Thor joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Thor was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Thor appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Thor greets with a low, nervous body and wanders the pen. He is tolerant of a female who continually solicits him to play.

He is tolerant of a female who continually solicits him to play. 4/26:Thor greets with a neutral body at the gate. When entering the pen with two females he becomes uncomfortable with solicitations and attempts to run away. He stops a few times to exchanges sniffs. He seems conflicted with interacting with social females. 4/27: Thor greets and becomes a bit stiff with another male. When he is alone with the female he is bouncy and intermittently mounts her.
