PROFILE :
Basic info:
Tequila is a 13 year old spayed AMPT mix who was surrendered by her owner due to tenant/landlord issues. Owner stated that he has had Tequila since she was a puppy. Tequila has no known medical issues.
Socialization:
Owner stated that when around strangers Tequila is friendly but a bit shy. Owner stated that she has spent time around children ages 3-18 and she is relaxed and playful when around them. When playing with children and adults Tequila is gentle. Tequila has spent time around other dogs and she is respectful. When playing with other dogs Tequila is gentle. Tequila has not spent time around cats so it is unknown how she will react.
Behavior:
Owner stated that overall Tequila’s behavior is good. During thunderstorms or loud noises Tequila gets nervous and is afraid. When someone touches Tequila’s food toys or treats she isn’t bothered. She also isn’t bothered if she is retrained pushed off the couch or disturbed while she is sleeping. She enjoys being brushed and doesn’t mind to have her nails trimmed. When someone approaches Tequila’s house or family member she will bark but will stop when her owner approaches the person.
For a new family to know:
Owner described Tequila as friendly, affectionate, playful and mellow with a medium activity level. Owner stated that when at home she likes to stay in her favorite spot. She likes balls, stuffed and squeaky toys. Tequila likes to play chase and tug. She has been kept mostly indoors and eats both dry and wet food. Tequila is very much house trained and never has accidents. When using the bathroom outside she will go on the grass or cement. When left alone in the house or yard she is well behaved. Tequila has never been crated. She knows the sit come down and stay commands. For exercise she is used to slow walk on the leash. On the leash she pulls lightly and when off the leash she may run away.
Group Behavior::
According to Tequila’s previous guardian, Tequila has spent time around other dogs and she is respectful. When playing with other dogs Tequila is gentle.
5/3: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Tequila displays neutral body language as she greets a novel male dog. She mostly keeps to herself as she explores the pen.
